Norfolk Gliding Club

Tibbenham Airfield

Tibbenham Airfield was built in 1942 during WW2 is the home of Norfolk Gliding Club.

From 1943 - 1945 it was used to launch heavy Bombing raids on Germany by the 445th Bomb Group, 3rd Air Division of the 8th United States Army Air Force flying Consolidated Liberator 4 Engine Bombers.

One of the Groups Flyers was the Hollywood Actor James Stewart.

We have use of the onsite facilities - toilets, showers, snack bar and licensed bar, and there is a room with historical material about the airfield.

Glider flights may be available for those hardy souls who would like to have a go. (At extra cost)
